We are about to enter the season of the fall Feasts. In Hebrew the word for feast is Moed. It means Appointed Time. God has appointed times on His calendar to meet with us. Special times set apart for His purposes on the earth. The Hebrew word Mikrah is also used for Feast. It means a holy convocation, a scared assembly or rehearsal of God’s past, present and future acts.

As we end the month of Elul we have completed the season of preparation for these Moed. A season that was marked with the blowing of the Shofar every morning. We have heard the Sound of the Shofar as the voice of God calling to our soul to prepare our spirit for repentance.

The Hebrew word for sound (kol) is used as the sound of the Shofar and is defined as the sound that walks. It also represents the voice of God.

In Genesis 3:8 we read of God calling to Adam and Eve after they sin. God’s voice calling to give them the opportunity to repent but they hid themselves. Don’t miss God’s calls in this season come transparently to receive His love and forgiveness.

And they heard the voice (kol) of HaShem God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of HaShem God amongst the trees of the garden.

In Exodus Exodus 19:16 we read God calling to the people of Israel.

And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders (kol) and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice (kol) of the shofar exceeding loud; so that all the people in the camp trembled.

The people ran from God asking Moses be the intermediary. Like Adam and Eve they hid themselves from the relationship that was the intent of God’s heart.

Now we come to the first Fall Feast called the Feast of Blowing. It is the only feast God did not give a specific name to. It is known as the Day of the Awakening Blast; the day to awaken our spirit to the voice of God.

In this season of God’s History it is a time of rehearsal, to be ready to hear the trumpet blast for the Great and Terrible day of the Lord. He is coming as the Dread Champion, (Jer.20:11-13)the Righteous Judge, The Captain of the Angel Armies.

Joel 2:[11] The LORD utters His voice before His army; Surely His camp is very great,

For strong is he who carries out His word. The day of the LORD is indeed great and very awesome, And who can endure it? [12] “Yet even now,” declares the LORD, “Return to Me with all your heart, And with fasting, weeping and mourning; [13] And rend your heart and not your garments.” Now return to the LORD your God, For He is gracious and compassionate, Slow to anger, abounding in lovingkindness And relenting of evil.

Yes the Great and Terrible day of the Lord is the day of Messiah’s return. Great for those in right standing but terrible for those who do not know Him. Yet even in the announcement of that day He proclaims Himself as gracious and compassionate.

It was pointed out to me today that Yom Teruah (The Day of Blowing) and Yom Kippur

( The Day of Atonement) are the only two Appointed Times of the Lord that are not connected with a physical harvest.

However they are very much connected to a spiritual harvest which is the harvest of souls of mankind the true work of building the Kingdom of God.

But I ask YOU:

Romans10: [14] How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? [15] How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO BRING GOOD NEWS OF GOOD THINGS!”

Today’s headlines are filled with wars and rumors of wars not just affecting the Middle East but the global community as well. Is not this a picture of the great and terrible day of the Lord in the lives of the individuals of the Middle East?

The Awaken Blast is sounding. We need to take our place on the wall of Intercession. We need to financially support those who God has put on the front line of evangelism in the Middle East. We need to have courage to be the voice of the Lord showing His love and His compassion to those in our fields of harvest.

It is tradition in this season to greet each other with “May you have a good and sweet year and may your name be written in the book of Life”. I say to you may we not only prophesy those words to all we know but also lead them to the Life giver Yeshua the Messiah.
